Dust storm in Chad

Dust storms from the Sahara regularly whip through central Africa. These images show Lake Chad (green splash) roughly in the image center, and (clockwise from upper left) Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and Nigeria. In Chad, scattered fires (red dots) were detected by MODIS as well. A dust storm in northern Chad softens the top part of the image.
