Lake Michigan Bloom

The whiting over Lake Michigan in this SeaWiFS image is probably a result of a calcite whiting that typically occurs as a result of autogenic precipitation of calcite as a result of water warming and a pH rise caused by phytoplankton uptake of carbon dioxide.
