Saharan dust over Canary Islands

These images from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite show dust storms from Africa’s Sahara Desert blowing out over the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Such dust events are not continual, though they are common.
