Dust blew off the coast of Iran and over the Gulf of Oman on December 1, 2007. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite captured this image the same day. This image not only shows the dust cloud itself, faintly obscuring the ocean’s color with a plume of hazy beige, it also shows a distinct line of clouds along much of the dust plume’s margin. Immediately north of Oman, an undulating line of white dots marks the dust storm’s southern edge, although the eastern and western edges of the storm appear largely free of clouds.
