A Landsat 5 image of the Esperanza Fire in San Bernardino National Forest acquired on Oct. 26, 2006. The fire caused a huge smoke plume; here it can be seen reaching roughly 3.3 miles into the sky. The large image is a natural-color composite and the small inset is a false-color composite. The active fire fronts in the false-color image appear bright yellow.
